- made a different change which may fix the repeating death bug... but this bug has been hounding me for a while so...
- changed the explosion particle effect for the player slightly
- changed the fade function's charge ability a bit
- made fiorflies have a self-destruct mechanism when they reach the bottom of the screen (so that they don't just follow the player slowly upwards, clumping there as the player passes most of them by) and changed its starting speed to depend on one of its individual random seeds rather than having all of them start at 0
- the above fix to the repeating death bug didn't work, now i get random deaths out of nowhere. implemented some checks to see what is causing them; i confirmed that they are being caused by creatures, not creature projectiles. i suspect the rakari or the fiorfly is turning invisible somehow and killing the player in an invisible state or something like that...
- added some more changes/checks/tests for those to see if i can find the source of it tomorrow (it's 11:48pm now)

i do love that you sometimes read these even though they probably make no sense to someone who doesn't program or even play videogames. means a lot to me
