Apparently orgasm works very differently in the brains of females and males, with different areas activating for each gender.

Brain activity fell in the amygdala, too, suggesting a depression of vigilance similar to that seen in men, who generally showed far less deactivation in their brain during orgasm than their female counterparts did. "Fear and anxiety need to be avoided at all costs if a woman wishes to have an orgasm; we knew that, but now we can see it happening in the depths of the brain," Holstege says. He went so far as to declare at the 2005 meeting of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Development: "At the moment of orgasm, women do not have any emotional feelings."

It's believable (and interesting) but they need a lot more test-data than 12 woman. You think there would be more people willing to have orgasms for science!

It's probably uncomfortable because you have to do it within those huge scary PET scan machines.

Yeah, but they need people from various psychological, economic and social backgrounds (and so on).

I was given a PET scan once. They didn't tell me much about my results or let me see the pictures. They only confirmed I didn't have schizophrenia.

They probably could have figured this out without actually spending any money on it.

I wonder what sort of organisms transexuals have, and whether getting hormones makes a difference.

This is interesting and consistent with my experiences and talking to my partners.
