Interesting!
The difference between "conservative" and "liberal" charitableness (and here I think they are actually meaning those who support a free market and those who support a socialist economy) is a good point. More evidence for Rand's assertion that people *would* donate to build private roads, police forces, etc.

I wouldn't say it's evidence of that -- it could just also be evidence that the religious donate more, and that the very poor are the most religious so they donate the most. I wouldn't necessarily connect it with free markets (although that's possible too).

It could also be evidence that suburbia (which you live in!) is terrible, since the middle class cares less about others than either the poor or the rich. I suspect that's due mostly to being so insulated and reclusive (the suburbs are characterized by very little interaction between neighbors, long distances between houses, etc.).
