Thailand has the best television commercials -- never seen anything like those here.

I've noticed that sentimental/life affirming commercials and ads are way more popular in the Asian market. Remember how I noted that in Hong Kong there are public health related things EVERYWHERE? And every other commercial is for life enhancement/extension things? As opposed to the Western-style focus on attainment of luxury/status/materials.

Maybe it's because of the afterlife belief -- most people in Asian don't really believe that their life will continue after their death (with the exception of the Indians who believe they'll be reincarnated, but they're not the far East), whereas most people in the U.S. do.

In this case, it is a cultural thing. Thai culture puts tremendous emphasis on emotions, every day phrases and idioms are loaded with emotion and emotional consideration which looses meaning when translated into English.

Well that settles it, I'm moving to Thailand. I don't even understand the appeal of cars that cost more than $500.00.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Thai people love physical beauty as well. If you've got even the hint of any body fat on you or if you've got a tan, they'll think you're subhuman. And if you've got a few pounds AND you're tanned, don't plan on anyone ever coming near you. (Yeah, I know, tanned skin as a definition of ugly is weird... but it means you were forced to work outside... There are exceptions obviously or else Tiger Woods wouldn't be around.)

And Thai people can get pretty racist/narrow minded, especially even against their own. Apparently saying Isan in Thailand is the equivelant of saying redneck in America. Isan people are supposed to be low life country hicks with even lower IQs, suitable only to clean houses. And there are Thai people (I'm thinking of the woman's previous boss, Noi) who absolutely refuse to understand a word of Isan even though Thai and Isan are intelligable to each other.

(If you can't tell from that long rant, the woman's Isan.)

That's dumb because some cars are gorgeous machines. You can't separate meticulous and aesthetically conscious mechanical craftsmanship from status-seeking penis replacements?

Sure I can admire some of those cars, but you could get an airplane for the same price.

Everyone thinks airplanes are like a hobby for the rich, but you can totally get one for ten or twenty thousand. I imagine they're less popular personal travel vehicles than cars partly because there's no company creating middle class status symbol planes.

Ultralights != planes. Besides, there was only one thing on there for $15K. Everything else was the price of a small house.

Also besides, driving an impeccably designed ground vehicle is a completely different exhiliration from flying. You're still not making any sense. If you personally don't enjoy nice cars, that's fine. But it's not a categorically stupid opinion to hold.

Definitely:
The White Knight
The Moblins are Revolting

Not Sure:
(Doppleganger)
(Underworld Connections)
(Kiss N Tell)
(That Sinking Feeling)

Further Refinement:
Doppleganger I do not remember which monsters grabbed Zelda and dragged her through the mirror. Probably moblins, but might have been octorocks.

Underworld Connections I doubt octorocks were in this episode, but there's a little bit of time before and after Link rode the Aquamentus that I can't remember what happened.

Kiss N Tell Might have grabbed Zelda once Frog Link knocked himself out.

That Sinking Feeling I don't remember what monsters Link and Zelda fought just prior to rushing the sunken castle.

Those are devestating, they make me want to buy life insurance. I honestly do not know how any American commercial from the last five years has ever successfully sold a product. They're all just obnoxious short films that act as if they're 'above' actually doing the job they were commissioned for. I'll do some research, and if product-anonymous unrelated advertising actually works, my next Ron Paul ad will just be thirty seconds of crude toilet humor with no mention of Ron Paul.

I think that's a little unfair to the few American commercials that are blunt and to the point.

I agree that a few are to the point, mainly local commercials or older commercials. But even the ones that are aren't as good as this one. The closest one I can think of are the Volvo commercials, which talk about how they are saving so many lives that the world is overpopulating (to emphasize that it's the safest car).
